Choosing a school is never simple.
And when you’re doing it in a country that isn’t your own, it can feel even harder.
You visit schools.
You read information.
You listen to different opinions.
And still, the doubt is often there. Because this isn’t just a practical decision.
It’s the quiet question many parents carry with them:
“Will my child feel safe and happy here?”
It’s about everyday things, such as:
Taking time to think this through isn’t hesitation.
It simply means you care.
At a certain point, many parents realise that comparing schools isn’t helping anymore.
You’ve seen different options, read the information and listened to advice.
And still, the doubt remains.
Because this decision is rarely made with lists or arguments.
The question that really matters is a different one:
How will my child feel here, every day?
In daily life, that becomes very concrete:
When this happens, learning flows more naturally.
Confidence grows.
And the decision starts to feel right.
This sense of safety and confidence doesn’t happen by chance.
It’s built every day, in the way children are guided, supported and understood.
Here, academic learning goes hand in hand with emotional development.
Not as a concept, but as daily practice.
In practical terms, children learn to:
This approach is grounded in Positive Psychology, which focuses on developing the skills children need to grow with confidence, balance and resilience.
At the school, this vision takes shape through the Optimistic Kids project.
It supports how children face challenges, limits and everyday difficulties, helping them develop a more constructive attitude towards learning and life.
Not to be perfect.
But to believe they can grow, improve and go further with time, support and encouragement.
All of this comes to life in everyday moments.
In small, consistent gestures that shape how children feel at school.
On a daily basis, this can be seen in:
Learning happens within this environment.
English is part of the daily routine from an early age, with English classes taking place every day.
Music, movement and creative arts are also part of school life, supporting a balanced development.
These areas are not treated as extras. They are part of everyday school life and support a balanced development, academic, emotional and social.
This is how the environment is created. And this is what you can feel when you visit the school.
The Colégio Sá de Miranda has supported children and families for over 50 years.
It’s a human-sized school, where each child is known by name, by rhythm and by who they are.
There is consistency in the way children are taught, supported and guided.
And over time, this balance is reflected in solid learning, without pressure or unnecessary stress.
